New Antique Row Project Breaks New Ground in WPB

Here are Mayor Muoio’s comments from Friday’s ground breaking:

(West Palm Beach, FL) – “It’s all positive, it’s all good, and it couldn’t have come at a better time.”

That’s the word from community leaders as they watched the ground breaking for a brand new development along West Palm Beach’s Antique Row District on Friday.

The Villas on Antique Row is not your ordinary real estate development. It’s a unique combination of residential carriage homes, two and three story town homes as well as downstairs retail shops along Dixie Highway between Southern Boulevard and Belvedere Road.

Friday developers joined West Palm Beach Mayor Jeri Muoio, West Palm Beach Commissioner Ike Robinson, and others to break ground on the project. It will include 35 town houses, 11 carriage homes and 11 retail spaces. The developer says he has already filled all 11 retail slots, and has a wait list of others hoping to hang out their shingle as part of the new project. Sales for the residential portions are also underway. The project is approximately twenty-five percent sold so far.

“Seven of the eleven retailers who will be part of this project are local, and that says a lot about their belief in the future of this area. But four are new to our city, and I think that says something even more important,” said West Palm Beach Mayor Jeri Muoio. “They could have gone anywhere, but they are choosing to come here because they see what I see. They see the incredible growth this area is experiencing.”

“This project will serve as a real spark plug for the area. We share the city’s vision to revitalize the Dixie Highway corridor, and this project will absolutely accelerate that process,” said Harry Posin, President of Label & Co. Developments.

The project is also enjoying the support of local community leaders who say they can’t wait until the property is finished.

“This is going to be an extremely upscale destination,” said Faustina Pace, President of the Antique Row Association. “For the builders to pick this area for their project really shows how vital this part of the city is.”

Posin said he recognizes the history of the Antique Row neighborhoods, and in fact he intentionally designed the project to reflect the unique character of the area.
